PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Information Architecture, Taxonomy & Metadata Librarian. ASRC Management Services. Washington, D.C. January 2008 – present.

  • Contractor at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Support metadata creation and maintenance for the public web site.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of taxonomies for public web site(s) and intranet(s).
  • Support development and improvement of site search functions through the implementation of faceted taxonomy structure.
  • Analyze site analytics and search logs to improve user access to information resources.

Internet Services Librarian (Librarian II). Washoe County Library System, Reno, NV. January 2007 – December 2007.

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the development and support of information technology for users and staff via the Internet Branch and the WCLS intranet.
  • As a branch manager (Internet Branch), work with the Administrative Management team to make system-wide service and resource decisions, including budget allocations, policy creation and review, and procedural practices.
  • Design and implement technology training for both staff and public on topics including wikis, searching/evaluating information on the web, using electronic databases, social software and more.

  • Update the web sites of the Maine Memory Network and the Maine Historical Society to web standard XHTML editing existing pages via both hand coding and by using Dreamweaver software.
  • Create digital images and transcriptions of historical records for use on the Web site using VueScan and Adobe PhotoShop software.
  • Transcribe original historical documents and records to facilitate effective online access.
