although the phrase web 2.0 makes me cringe (and Librarian 2.0 is even worse) this video is really great and you should watch it.

downtime and I’m it!
Posted by Jami on February 6, 2007
My internet access has returned!! After a few days of no signal and frantic attempts to reconfigure something, anything, to connect me to the virtual world, my internet access has miraculously returned to me! Glory days! I suppose I could have called to find out if they were experiencing downtime and alleviated my assumption that of course this was something I could fix, but of course I never thought of that. I don’t read directions either. I do, however, use maps. Compulsively. If I could draw, I would be a cartographer – no lie.
Of course, downtime does not explain my lack of blogging. I really have no excuse for that. I do live in a city where I know pretty much noone outside of work and spend most of my time at home where I (usually) have internet access. Honestly, since beginning my new job two things have been the case. (1) I have been extremely exhausted all the time and (2) after staring at a computer all day at work trying to figure out what the hell is going on with all these servers and all these files and what the heck do i do with this and that etc. I am not the least bit interested in turning on the computer when I get home. I am lucky if I check my email, let alone reply to any of it. Creating blog posts is WAY out of my league on most evenings.
Today I am incited to action by Sarah - I’m not sure where to begin, but here goes:
FIVE THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME
(1) I can’t share food unless it is equally divided prior to consumption. I have such a compulsion to save the best for last that I am unable to share food with someone who doesn’t have the same neurotic compulsion (translation: noone). My food sharing inability especially applies to ice cream. Don’t ever eat my ice cream. It often takes me a month to get through a pint of the stuff (although I LOVE it) and if I share with a normal eater, I am almost ensured of the fact it will be gone in a matter of days (a reasonable pace) and I will be a very sad monkey.
(2) I have a history of crimes and misdemeanors. I engaged in graffiti at age six (crayola crayons on the side of the school at recess) and breaking and entering at age seven (noone lived there – i think they had died – but it was full of cool stuff like blue paint to smear on all of the walls!) At nine, I was picked up for soaping windows downtown with my best friend (her mother covered for me and went with our story that we were sisters – my parents still don’t know). Luckily, I got all of this out of my system at an early age – I’ve never even gotten a speeding ticket!
(3) I’m incredibly sensitive, empathetic and naive. I can never understand why people can’t (1) be nice to each other (2) behave with integrity and (3) trust each other (although I do realize that the inability to accomplish numero tres is directly consequential to numeros uno y dos). That said, I have done my share of asshole things. The above qualities just ensure that I will torment myself over them for the rest of my life.
(4) My favorite movie is The World According to Garp. According to the new print American Express ad, as placed in Sunday Times Magazine last week, this is also Ellen Degeneres’ favorite movie. I’m not sure how I feel about this, but I’m trying to play it cool. I have never shared my favorite movie with anyone before. See #1.
(5) When I was sixteen and getting into my first relationship with another woman, I used the library as my ‘cover story’ for meeting up with her. My parents believed me when I told them that I was going to the library every night. That’s how much of a dork I am! Now I’m a librarian – for real. You can check up on me if you want to
Okay, so now I’ll tag a couple of other folks …Amy, Jen, Lana, Kelly and, um… I don’t know if I know anyone else with a blog… If I come up with someone I’ll hit them up later, maybe.
