mcpl internship: day one
Posted by Jami on May 10, 2006
Today was the first day of my internship at the Monroe County Public Library. Four hours of MCPL information, mostly in the form of a very detailed tour of the premises, most of which I think that I can retain reasonably well, although when presented with the task of finding the “staff (5 cent cheaper) pop machine” (soda machine for all of us who are NOT from Indiana), my fellow intern and I failed miserably. However, we did find a hatch door leading to the roof that I may attempt to make use of in the future….sssshhhhhhhhh. That will be our secret. I really liked being at the library. Really so much. And I am so very excited for the fact that my future will most likely consist of many, many days at the library. I’m not sure there could be a better place to work. Seriously. So many books, so many computers, so many movies, so many magazines, So many interesting things to see and do and learn. Perfect for those of us who get excited about most things. And better yet? MCPL even has windows. Lots of them. A serious step up from the two towers of darkness and artificial light where I have spent the entirety of the last two semesters.
